🍲 About Hester Brown
Hi there, I’m Hester Brown, the spoon and the stories behind Soup Recipester.
A pot of soup has always meant comfort to me. As a kid, I’d sit at the kitchen table doing homework while my mom stirred chicken noodle on the stove, and somehow the steam carried away the stress of the day. That’s probably why I still believe soup isn’t just food — it’s warmth, patience, and a way of feeling at home.
On this blog, you’ll find recipes that make sense for real life. Some are quick bowls like a 15-minute tomato soup you can pull together after work, others are slow-simmered stews worth waiting for on a Sunday. I share everyday favorites, seasonal ideas, and the kind of soups you’ll want to pass around the table when friends or family drop by.
I like to keep my recipes practical, with the little notes I’ve picked up along the way — when to add a pinch more salt, how to balance a broth without making it heavy, or what to do when you’re out of fresh herbs. Cooking should feel relaxed, not like a test. Think of me as the friend at your side reminding you it’s okay if things aren’t picture-perfect.
When I’m not taste-testing (someone has to do it 😅), I’m usually wandering a farmer’s market looking for fresh vegetables to toss into the next pot. I’m drawn to simple ingredients because they’re honest — nothing fancy, just good food that can turn into something special with a little time and care.
For me, soup is connection. Some of my best conversations have happened with a ladle in one hand and friends gathered close, waiting for bowls to be filled. It doesn’t have to be complicated; it just has to bring people together. 🥣
And because life moves fast, I share recipes that fit both busy weeknights and slow weekends. Whether it’s a quick fix for dinner or something to savor over hours, I want you to feel confident that what you find here will actually work in your kitchen.
So grab a bowl, pull up a chair, and let’s share something warm. No matter the season, there’s always room for one more spoonful. 💛
